Article Abstract:

Both consumer price indexes (CPIs) rose 0.4% in Oct 1992. The CPI for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) went to 141.8 without seasonal adjustment, an increase of 3.2% for the last 12 months. The CPI for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) went to 139.6 without seasonal adjustment, an increase of 3.1% since Oct 1991. About 75% of the increase in the CPI-U is explained by increases in the prices for shelter and energy.

Article Abstract:

Both consumer price indexes (CPIs) rose 0.3% in Aug 1992. The CPI for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) went to 140.9 without seasonal adjustment, an increase of 3.1% for the last 12 months. The CPI for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) went to 138.8 without seasonal adjustment, an increase of 3.1% since Aug 1991. Increasing food prices were largely responsible for the advance.
