Prices, employment and pro-labor governments
Article Abstract:
The impact of a pro-labor government on economic performance was investigated. A game theoretic model of the relationship between a government and a national trade union in a market economy where the union is responsible for wage-setting was derived. Specifically, it was shown that a government's pro-worker leanings leads to lower wages, unemployment, prices but higher welfare provisions for workers and lesser welfare provisions for company owners.

A simple model of an oligopolistic parallel market
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine private firm behavior under markets of parallel consumer goods. The study assumes that the state sector is charcaterized by fixed quantity, quality and price while the private sector has more flexibility in deciding market restrictions. Results show that marginal cutbacks employed as a private sector response may generate welfare-increasing conditions.
