Privatization picking up?

Article Abstract:

Privatization in Turkey is once again going forward with the government's declaration that dairy facilities, power stations and the Turkish Posts and Telegraph Co (PTT), the country's telephone service, would be turned over to private owners. However, discontent over unemployment and foreign control could renew opposition. At $8-$10 billion, PTT's privatization is the biggest and most profitable yet undertaken. A major government goal is privatization of State Economic Enterprises (SEEs). Several laws designed to provide a framework for privatizing SEEs have not speeded up the process.
