Article Abstract:

The unitary versus collective model of the household using a common framework and indicators of bargaining power that influences the decisions made within marriage in four different countries is studied.The differences between parental effects on children of different sex provide evidence that household in these four countries is not operating within a single framework.

The effects of consumption variability on saving: evidence from a panel of Muscovite households**

Article Abstract:

A study panel of 2,346 Muscovite households, over the 12-month of 1996, to assess the extent to which changes in households perceived uncertainty affect the saving decision is discussed. The uncertainty is proxied with two varying measures of consumption growth variability, using both past and future information.
