The 1984 British budget includes a provision for the reduction of the stamp duty on stock shares from two percent to one percent. This reform was heralded on the London Stock Exchange. Measures to revitalize the bond market will be implemented. Specialized tax treatments of deep-discounted bonds, Eurobonds, and acceptance credit discounts will be resurrected.

A Bit More for the Poor
Article Abstract:
Details of the basic income tax threshold, raised by twelve and one-half percent in the recently presented British national budget, are enumerated. Effects on various income level groups are briefly analyzed. The change will make weekly unemployment benefits equal to many working people's pay allowance.
