Purina Mills Inc's new America's Country Store outlet that opened near its headquarters in St. Louis, MO, in 1999 is a flaghsip facility for its new retail concept. The 20,000-sq-ft Hawk Ridge Feed and Pet Supply in Lake St. Louis, MO, offers a blend of animal feeds, pet supplies and convenience hardware. This new retail concept is designed to tap into a fast-growing 'ruralpolitan' markets, suburbian areas populated by hobby farms that are mostly owned by city people who have moved out to live in the country.

Communicating the diary checkoff with one clear voice
Article Abstract:
CMF&Z of Des Moines, IA, in its public relations campaign aimed at dairy farmers in the US, was able to effectively convince farmers of the soundness of the industry's mandatory checkoff program. The campaign, undertaken by the public relations company for Dairy Management Inc of Rosemont, IL, recieved a 62%-approval rating from the farmers in a 1998 survey. The results also revealed that nearly three-fourths believed that the checkout funds were being spent wisely.
