Article Abstract:

A time-varying parameters technique has produced little evidence for economic convergence within the former Communist bloc. There are also signs that the long-standing difference in GDP per capita between the Central and Eastern European economies and those of the OECD has not significantly altered in the early stages of transition to a market economy.
