Article Abstract:
Although constituting a quarter of national production, 2/3 of her total assets, half of urban employment and 3/4 of investments, China's state-owned enterprises are inefficient, produce non-marketable products and bring few benefits at much cost. China's leaders face challenges on economic reforms and privatization.

Just How Undervalued is the Chinese Renminbi?
Article Abstract:
The authors use a Johansen cointegration framework to examine the permanent equilibrium exchange rate and the behavioral equilibrium exchange rate of China's renminbi. Findings indicate that the renminbi's undervaluation against the dollar is slight, rather than the larger figure that has been presented.
