The spread of the Internet into Middle Eastern countries has been very rapid. The growth in the commercial use of the Internet has stimulated its use outside computer companies and universities in the Middle East. A list of Internet sites relating to the Middle East is included.

The economy of the Middle Eastern country of Jordan is discussed with particular reference to 2001. The first half of 2001 saw the Jordanian economy exceed predictions, but the outlook for the second half of the year is uncertain and may be poor.
