The complementarity of capital and resources as production factors is considered in conjunction with the theory of exhaustible resources. Optimal growth trajectories are developed from the stock of capital, the rate of consumption and the optimal trajectory of exploitation. With technical progress an increasing rate of consumption may be achieved.
