(A)broad teacher education

Article Abstract:

The implications of international students undertaking teacher education in Australian universities are discussed as an example of global teacher education and its consequences for teacher educators and students. It is contended that the practice of undertaking teacher education in another country produces future teachers who are cosmopolitans, who value diversity and accept change and uncertainty, rather than producing fundamentalists who adhere rigidly to tradition and ritual truths.

What will vocational education be if the futurists are right?

Article Abstract:

Some economic and social experts predict that employees in companies of the future will no longer be assigned to specific jobs. This means that employees should be adept at handling various jobs in the same company. It also means that vocational schools, like all other educational institutions, should adopt new ways of preparing students for this radically new working environment, which will require workers to possess managerial skills in addition to technical skills.
