Siaredir Cymraeg yma?*(* Is Welsh spoken here?, University of Wales)
Article Abstract:
Head of Welsh medium studies at Aberystwyth university college, Ioan Williams would like to see a Welsh perspective incorporated into the University of Wales, with Welsh speakers appointed as heads of department. Steps were taken to appoint Welsh medium lecturers after activists called for a separate college in the 1950s, however, the initiative was abandoned in 1992. The number of Welsh speakers in Wales has fallen from about half in 1900 to around 18% during the 1980s.
