BBC loses its vertical hold on small people
Article Abstract:
The BBC encouraged viewers to vote for their favourite BBC children's television programme of all time, but failed to include several key programmes in its closed list of 24 titles. The selection excluded programmes with a regional or urban bias, such as 'Byker Grover,' and the BBC's Future Generations website focuses on a partial view of programming traditions. The website fails to include US imported programmes or reflect the dominance of cartoons in children's scheduling. The initiative is primarily aimed at parents to reinforce their nostaligic view of childhood.
