'Bonkers' job index irks v-cs

Article Abstract:

The government's graduate employability measurement technique is being criticized by university vice-chancellors for failing to take into account those students who undertake lifelong learning, part-time students, those who go on to further training and those who become self-employed. Graduates' first destinations will be surveyed to produce the employability performance indicator, with the statistics only taking into account graduates who have completed full-time courses at Higher National Certificate, Higher National Diploma and degree level.

IT takes the e-learning back seat

Luton takes on Oxbridge elite

Article Abstract:

Luton University, England, has come top of a survey of graduate employment published in April 2001. Every graduate was employed within six months of graduation compared to only 93 and 97 per cent of Oxford and Cambridge graduates.
