The new US$4 million Software Freedom Law Center (SFLC) in New York, New York, will help programmers in the open source software movement navigate the legal minefield of the software market and draw up legally watertight contracts. Eben Moglen, chairman of the SFLC, notes that the scale of the free software market is increasing exponentially and that the center will enable developers "to put together software based on good legal standards".

Welcome to Muncie: a city of 66,000 all-American laboratory rats
Article Abstract:
An overview of the various social science studies that have been undertaken in the city of Muncie, Indiana, and what makes the city one of the most studied urban centres in the United States. It is suggested that it was a sociological study conducted by Robert and Helen Lynd in 1929 called "Middletown" that first singled out Muncie, which has since been regarded as an ideal microcosm in which to study wider American society.

Article Abstract:
In the US women outnumber men 58 to 42 among undergraduates, make up 59 percent of masters students and account for around 50 percent pf PhD students in education and healthcare. Despite this, men account for 61 percent of faculty at US degree-granting institutions and half of these have tenure. only 36 percent of women faculty have tenure.
