High earners may pay more, those who share pay less

Article Abstract:

UK universities have a wide range of parking charges and charging permutations and a survey by THES has found charges ranging from GBP 470 per year at Sheffield University to nothing at universities such as Kingston, Middlesex and Roehampton. Some universities charge a proportion of salary and others offer parking in different car parks at different rates.

'Derisory' 6% offer on table

Article Abstract:

Lecturers have rejected as 'derisory' a 6 percent pay offer over two years and have told employers that the dispute will continue until they come up with a credible deal. Natfhe and the AUT have joined unions representing support and manual staff in rejecting the offer by the Universities and Colleges Employers' Association (UCEA).

Union dismay over 50 million pound 'sop'

Article Abstract:

The UK chancellor, Gordon Brown, has allocated 50 million pounds sterling to increase the remuneration of leading university lecturers. However union representatives think that more money should be available to all academic staff.
