'Hounding' could led to another David Kelly case

Article Abstract:

Simon Davies, visiting fellow at the London School of Economics, has said he has been vilified for a report which he co-wrote and which questions Home Office plans for ID cards. Simon Davies was so distraught over his treatment he was unable to continue his part-time consultancy work. He has said if ministers continue treating academics in this way, there could be a repeat of the circumstances which en ded in the death of Dr David Kelly, government scientist.

Ordinary guy with surprise element

Article Abstract:

The life and career of Howard Davies, chairman of the Financial Services Authority, is examined in the light of his decision to take up the position of director of the London School of Economics (LSE). The decision to join the LSE has been met with surprise, not least at the LSE where he will succeed Anthony Giddens, but, it is noted, Davies is famous for being an unusual person with an unpredictable career path.

Open day talk brings job to a close

Article Abstract:

An academic from the London School of Economics (LSE) who told students attending an open day that they may be better off studying at London Metropolitan University, will resign. Erik Ringmar, senior lecturer in government at LSE, made a controversial speech in which he said PhD students would teach the majority of LSE undergraduate courses as lecturers were occupied with research.
