How Brits can bridge the Gulf

It is vital that UK universities adopt a more organized approach towards marketing themselves in the Gulf, where higher education is expanding rapidly. Representatives from UK universities must make the effort to visit the region and gain an insight into its people and its culture. They must realize that specific approaches are needed to teaching students with English as their second or even third language, and must ensure that course content is contexualized for regional understanding.

Long war in the Gulf
Article Abstract:
Kuwait University has repaired much of the damage sustained after the 1990 Gulf War. Student numbers are down considerably as Palestinians are no longer permitted to enrol, and many of the faculty were Palestinian also. Some feel the Egyptians on the faculty can exert undue influence. Government regulations are making it difficult for non-Kuwaitis to accept university posts.
