How many v-cs are black?

Article Abstract:

Bristol University, England, Professor Tariq Modood has called for universities to introduce policies which would give ethnic minorities equality in higher education. He points out some universities set targets to increase the employment of female academics. Modood suggests setting targets will not be the same process as positive discrimination policies in the US. Some observers suggest universities which fail to make changes should lose public funding. A study carried out by Modood and his colleague Dr Steve Fenton found some 6.5% of academic staff were from ethnic minorities groups.

It's a painful time to be in the minority. Racism and discrimination against ethnic-minority staff infect academia

Article Abstract:

A correlation likely exists between the treatment of ethnic minority staff in universities and the recruitment of ethnic minority students. Ethnic minority staff are often part-timers and lower paid employees. If black staff are seen as less valuable, black students are less likely to want to follow in their footsteps.
