"It is stupid to borrow at 3 per cent." (student hardship)
Article Abstract:
A survey amongst academic staff revealed that many feel that lack of money is causing a drop in academic standards. When students were asked if they felt some budgetary difficulties were inevitable, one third agreed that hardship was necessary. Sponsorship is rare and many students still felt they were in a better position than non-students of the same age. Students who receive a full grant and are receiving money from their parents still find it hard to manage and take part-time jobs.

New life in the old guard; Britain lags behind America in recognising old people's skills
Article Abstract:
In the US, people aged 50 or over have a powerful voice because of their numbers and spending power. In the UK, the number of senior citizens are also increasing, but they are not viewed positively in society and are discriminated against in employment. Some companies actively recruit those over 50 and have found them to be reliable employees.
