Kurds plan to host American University

Article Abstract:

Academics leaving violence-ridden Baghdad are moving to Iraq's relatively safe Kurd-controlled northern territory hoping to gain employment in its fast-expanding higher education sector. The Kurdistan Regional Government is hosting an American University funded by U.S. agencies and some Kurdish sources as part of an effort to stem this brain drain, and to utilize the services of the Iraqi academia in the other universities that face a shortage of teachers.

Balkans to get a slice of Bologna

Article Abstract:

European education ministers will consider how to persuade fovernments in south-eastern Europe and the western Balkans to provide universities with more autonomy and enable more cooperation with the rest of the Continent. The European University Association convened a conference in Vienna which brought together education experts and university representatives from seven of the region's countries.
