Natfhe activists will condemn 'bullying and managerial diktats' within higher education at their annual conference. A motion calling for more democracy in universities singles out the vice-chancellor of Leeds Metropolitan University, Simon Lee, who is embroiled in controversy over accusations that he sent staff an 'intimidatory' e-mail.

David Ball, professor of risk management at Middlesex University, and Keith Baverstock, previously head of he radiation protection division at the WHO, claim the Committee on Radioactive Waste Management (CoRWM) has failed to properly commission appropriate scientific advice. Hunt: 'proud to lead' pay fight

General secretary of the Association of University Teachers (AUT), Sally Hunt, will tell members that whatever the pay dispute outcome, the union was right to fight. At the last annual council meeting of the AUT before it merges with Natfhe in June, Ms Hunt will say that she was proud to lead the dispute.
