Queen's University, Belfast has been penalised for alleged employment discrimination against Catholics. Catholics in Northern Ireland are more than twice as likely as Protestants to be unemployed. An equal opportunities panel will consider how to improve matters. They will consider whether to include statements in job advertisements welcoming Catholic applications and how many Catholics should be employed by the university. Employment of Catholics on one campus has risen by 7% since the late 1980's.
