Article Abstract:

For many strictly observant members of religious groups, there are many stumbling blocks to obtaining an education, but many British institutes of learning are beginning to address these problems. At Bradford University, Muslim women are offered courses that are taught exclusively for and by women.

End of an era for innovation

Article Abstract:

The UK Economic and Social Research Council's five-year innovation programme is discussed. The programme, which ended in Sep 2000, focused on the need for innovation to have a firm academic base. Academics were also helped to forge links with industry and business.

Copyright fees dispute goes to costly tribunal

Article Abstract:

A Patent Office tribunal between Britain's Copyright Licensing Agency and the Universities UK organization took place in London in September 2001. At the meting, university leaders criticised the bureaucracy of the copyright licensing scheme.
