Article Abstract:
The numerous popular and semi-popular books about the brain to have appeared since 1990 signal the beginning of a greater public awareness of human neural consciousness. Non-invasive brain-scanning machines have helped increase understanding of brain anatomy and physiological activity. A theoretical understanding of the way in which the microstructure of the brain sustains cognition has been made possible by artificial neural networks. The understanding of the function of the human brain and of artificial brain-like networks gained through research will inevitably pass into the public consciousness.
