Promoting positive youth development in schools
Article Abstract:
Three focal areas namely positive people, positive places and positive opportunities in promoting positive youth development (PYD) in schools is discussed. It is concluded that promoting and sustaining PYD efforts in schools yields positive schools with strong academic programs that promote successful adolescent developmental outcomes for all students.

Ethnic and racial identity and adolescent well-being
Article Abstract:
Theoretical and empirical literature that informs the understanding of the development of a positive ethnic identity and the consequences of adolescent mental health is reviewed. It is found to support a strong, positive ethnic identity benefits on adolescent mental health and academic success.

Parents and teachers need to incorporate conversations into family and classroom routines are discussed through several empirical examples that enhance moral engagement. It is found to support the mental health benefits of teaching adolescents by appraising situations using moral standards.
