Science is the key to combating the unfair in human evolution
Article Abstract:
The scientific procedure of placing functional genetic material into human eggs, sperm or germ cells is not permitted. Yet it may be allowed in the future to help combat a very virulent virus. Scientists will be looking at ways of using gene therapy to eradicate genes which cause disease and handicap, such as cystic fibrosis. Recombinant DNA research was initially opposed but since the 1980s has been carried on, and has been found to be beneficial, without government interference. The alteration of genes in a foetus is unlikely to happen in the near future as it will be very complex.

Deer hunters must call off the dogs
Article Abstract:
The National Trust has released a report which condemns deer hunting with hounds on the grounds that it causes undue suffering. The research investigated the effects of hunting in red deer and found high levels of stress hormones in blood samples from hunted deer. Other findings include high blood acidity, high levels of haemoglobin in plasma, and depletion of carbohydrate reserves. It is suggested that shooting would be a preferable method of culling deer.
