Article Abstract:
The secret of successful interviewing is listening, according to broadcaster Studs Terkel, who has amassed around 9,000 hours of taped interviews. He has gained great respect for his ability to obtain evocative interviews from unlikely interviewees. He has been hailed as the leading oral historian in the US, but is rather cautious about this title. He is extremely interested in the importance of history and memory, and feels that there is nothing particularly innovative about his work.

Spatial awareness finds a new angle
Article Abstract:
Nicolai Lobachevevskii's achievement was the discovery of a different form of geometry to that of Euclid. Lobachevskii was born in Kasan in Russia in 1792, and became the rector of Kasan University. He proposed different theorems to Euclid but his definitions were very similar. His proposals were unable to be true and false at the same time, and did not contradit themselves as others had done.

Don't I look like Caesar at this angle?
Article Abstract:
Issues relating to the continuing uses and abuses of the legacy of Julius Caesar are examined. Attention is paid to how both the positive and negative interpretations of his reign are used to either legitimate reigns, provide a template for leadership or to criticise regimes for their imperialist tendencies.
