The champion of 'grey matter' trade

Article Abstract:

An examination of the legacy of Bernard Shapiro, who is retiring as principal of McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Shapiro, who took up the position of principal of McGill in 1994, had been head-hunted out of an earlier retirement when he was appointed principal - following seven years as the deputy minister of education of Ontario - in order to help rescue the university from apparent terminal decline.

US visa limbo costs physicist Stanford post

Article Abstract:

Akram Khan, Brunel University physicist, has been forced to give up a top research post at Stanford University as he has the same name as a suspected Islamic terrorist. Akram Khan resigned from his research psost at the BaBar project at Stanford in August 2006 after he failed to get visa clearance to enter the US.

Following an aggressive recruitment campaign, Sheffield Hallam University has netted a department of top-rated sport science researchers from Sheffield University. Sheffield Hallam has signed up 12 researchers from the 5*-rated sports engineering group at Sheffield University.
