Article Abstract:

The life of a professional writer is generally very uninteresting, according to Indian novelist R.K. Narayan. He first came to public attention in the west in 1935 after having gained the admiration of Graham Greene, and since then has become highly respected and has spent time abroad at universities, particularly in the US. He published three novellas in 1993, and continues to write articles and short stories. However, he now prefers sitting and contemplating.

Article Abstract:

There are no strong connections between cultures and the physics they practise, according to particle physicist and cosmologist Steven Weinberg. He is fascinated by the laws of nature, and has spent his whole working life attempting to understand and unify the four basic forces that operate between and within atoms and their nuclei. He rejects the view that string theory has links with mysticism, and wishes that he was working on it.
