The health occupations boom

Article Abstract:

Reports of the Bureau of Labor Statistics and U.S. Department of Labor show a growth rate of 12% more than overall employment growth in health care employment between 1992 and 2005. U.S. Department of Labor has identified 15 health-care-related occupations in which opportunities will grow faster than the overall employment. Job description and salaries of 10 most growth-oriented health care related jobs which feature on this list are presented.

A model reform

Article Abstract:

The implementation of career-related programs based on career clusters prepares students for a variety jobs. A common element in these programs isa combination of academic and career education. Four professional-technical academic programs are integrated with specialized courses. The business and industrial setting in a location influences the career cluster offerings. The programs at the Great Oaks Institute of Technology, Ohio are discussed.

Riding out the storm: how students and faculty of a Chicago technical high school fought to save their school from extinction

Article Abstract:

The agitation of the students of Lindblom Technical High School, Chicago, IL, against the closing of the school sparked a successful community fight that ultimately saved the school. Lindblom is a highly respected technical school with a high graduation rate. The majority of the African American students at Lindblom think racism was the reason the school was almost closed.
