The implausible pundits
Article Abstract:
The public discussion of many issues is frequently hampered by the split between those who feel comfortable with a largely mathematical approach to the world and those who do not. In the case of economics, for example, it is possible to see the subject as one of the humanities, but it is in fact mathematical as a discipline. In many cases, magazines and newspapers take the opposite approach from that which was intended by the author of the article concerned, with editors distorting the article in order to make it more attractive to readers.
