Tories back voucher scheme
Article Abstract:
A university voucher scheme has been proposed by a group of businessmen, politicians and researchers in the United Kingdom's at the Conservative Political Centre, which would fund students in higher education from the time they leave school. It would not replace central funding arrangements which currently exist, but would replace local authority funding. The scheme is designed to give students more choice and would guarantee a university place provided that the required qualifications were attained.

Time to bring back the chalk to the talk-face
Article Abstract:
Overhead projectors can be very useful for university teachers, but they can also be misused. They have come to symbolize proper teaching as opposed to more traditional methods of talking and writing on a board, but students tend to focus on images from projectors rather than on teachers. Teachers should believe in their ability to communicate and in the ability of students to understand them if the teachers have delivered the message at a sensible pace using effective delivery methods.
