UUK: cast net wide for top staff

Article Abstract:

Universities UK has published a new set of guidelines for university chiefs in which it urges them to look outside the traditional old boys' network when they are looking for their senior managers. The guidelines, which aim to improve the diversity and quality of leadership in the university sector, also advises universities to remove the process of decision-making over top appointments from metaphorical smoke-filled rooms and open deliberations up so that failed applicants can scrutinise them.
