Salute to Bill Glasgow: So Long to a Master Showman

Article Abstract:

William Glasgow, a Chicago native, began his career in 1945 as an office boy at the Conrad Hilton Hotel. In 1949 he became a banquet waiter at the same hotel. After two years in the armed forces he returned to the Conrad Hilton, where, in eight years he worked up to director of catering sales. In 1969 Glasgow left Hilton to become Vice President of Operations for the Arden- Mayfair Company in California. After two years there he returned to Chicago to become director of sales and catering for Greyhound Food Service. In 1976 he went to CES where, in 1978, he was named Vice President. In 1983 he became president of Glasgow- Erikson Inc.

Jack Wayman: B'nai B'rith Man of the Year - A Special Salute

Article Abstract:

EIA-CEG senior VP, Jack Wayman, was chosen B'nai Brith's Man of the Year of the consumer electronics industry. Wayman started selling television sets in Washington, DC, in the early fifties. He received a graduate degree from Georgetown University in 1952. He joined RCA as a salesman and became the company's liasion on government affairs. After ten years he was recruited by the EIA and became the head and first member of the Consumer Electronics Group (EEG). He developed a team that would represent the interests of manufacturers and stayed with EIA-CEG for twenty years.

Salute to a Legend: Russ Johnson Just Slightly Ahead of His Time

Article Abstract:

Russ Johnson is retiring as VP of Panasonic's Communications Division. Johnson captured the essence of Panasonic and Matsushita with his legendary ad campaigns. Johnson graduated from New York University cum laude and entered the consumer electronics industry with Dumont in 1951. He joined Panasonic in 1967. Photographs and tributes from companies are included.
