Acoustooptic signal processing and computing
Article Abstract:
Acoustooptic techniques allow information to be impressed onto light beams at speeds matching the processing speeds of optical beam propagation.Optical subsystems for information processing have been developed using laser diodes as light sources and high-speed, high-dynamic-range photodetector arrays. Acoustooptic processors are usually designed for specific tasks, but more generalized acoustooptic techniques allow a few generic components to handle a range of problems. Applications are described here to demonstrate the proper use of optics in computers and how high-speed processors can be included in the systems. Developments required in the devices as well as in the supporting optical and electronic technology for enhanced performance and more general application are discussed.

On the derivatives of the homomorphic transform operator and their application to some practical signal processing problems
Article Abstract:
The derivatives of the homomorphic transform operator and its inverse are applied to a problem involving a standard method for designing recursive multidimensional filters and to the analysis of homomorphic deconvolution techniques in the presence of additive disturbances. The derivatives are shown to be useful in obtaining approximations of the effects of additive disturbances and can also be used to calculate the derivatives of stabilization.
