Calibration case study of natural source electromagnetic array data recorded over a well in Oregon
Article Abstract:
A new technique of acquiring magnetotelluric (MT) data, electromagnetic array profiling (EMAP), is developed that avoids the static effects and spatial aliasing of conventional MT sampling. The EMAP method uses a linear array of end-to-end dipoles as electromagnetic (EM) field sensors. An automatic three-step sequence is used to interpret the EM array data: an initial model is refined by forward computation of array responses and comparison to model parameters, static is removed from the data, and a linear correction is made to the model parameters. The process is repeated until the modeled and field data fit with a satisfactory level of minimal uncertainty. The EMAP technique is validated in application to real and processed field data (the latter a well in Oregon).

The electromagnetic field in rotating coordinates
Article Abstract:
Electromagnetic field equations in rotating coordinates developed by LI Schiff, HA Atwater, and C Moller are shown to be faulty because they fail to take account of the non-Euclidean geometry of physical 3-space in rotating coordinates. Specifically, they are based on erroneous expressions for electromagnetic 3-vectors, 3-current densities, charge densities, divergence and curl operators. Maxwell's equations are proven to be valid for rotating coordinates. Details of the underlying equations and proofs are described.

Lateral Electromagnetic Waves Along Plane Boundaries: A Summarizing Approach
Article Abstract:
Propagation of electromagnetic waves between two different materials is being studied. It is very essential in all radio communication between points near the surface of the earth. Electromagnetic fields generated by vertical and horizontal electric dipoles near the boundry between air and the earth are studied theoretically. Several types of antennas are analyzed. A table lists intermediate ranges in distance and amplitude.
