Capacitance of semiconductor p-n junction space-charge layers: an overview
Article Abstract:
Simulation of the capacitance of the p-n junction space-charge layers in semiconductor devices is an important aspect of very large scale integration (VLSI) device modeling because of the importance of the layer in switching speed and frequency response. This history of p-n junction space-charge layer modeling methods and models focuses on diodes and bipolar transistors and covers both homojunction and heterojunction devices. Recently developed junction capacitance models described include emitter-base space-charge-layer and base-collector space-charge-layer capacitance homojunction models and an analytical heterojunction capacitance model for emitter-type junctions. Details of the models and their development are described.

An overview of the multi-database manipulation language MDSL
Article Abstract:
Databases are becoming more widely available and accessible on computers, so users will encounter many independent, autonomous databases. These databases differ in many aspects, including: data definitions; manipulation languages; models; and formats. These semantic conflicts, which arise from differences between data for names, values, and meanings, must be resolved for effective manipulation of the databases. MDSL was developed to allow the operation of multiple Multics Relational Data Store (MRDS) databases. It consists of very easy to learn schemas, with functions designed to meet needs of simplicity, formulation of inter-queries, and the management of semantic heterogeneity.

Navigation-An Overview
Article Abstract:
The institutional drawbacks of long-range navigation aids include cost, validity of signal, and responsibility of the long range systems. Other non-technical factors affect the choice of navigational systems for air and sea markets. These are the unpredictable marketplace, cost, redundancy, and vulnerability. A table illustrates the main navigational systems and their users.
