A specially equipped and powerful '96 BMW 328i features a custom sound system designed by Derek Kenney and his crew at Sound In Motion in Allston, Massachusetts. It has a Nakamichi TA-25 receiver/CD-changer controller, and 6 1/2-inch midranges from MB Quart QM 218.61 Q speakers. Its pair of QM 300.92 12-inch subwoofers are powered by an Xtant 3300x 3-channel amplifier. Installation details, and a road testing session, are described.

The International Auto Sound Challenge Association (IASCA) held its 10th annual finals at the Dallas Convention Center on October 3 and 4. All of the custom car audio systems that competed were state-of-the art. Frank Rougeau won in SQ and SQ+ for the second year in a row, and John Pitts' took a double victory in SQ and SQ+ in Expert 601+, upsetting veterans of past competitions.

IdBL Vision
Article Abstract:
The IASCA intorduced a new SPL competition category, IdBL, at the Finals in Dallas, TX. The category had been testing the idea for the past year and decided that woofer cone area classifications. The classifications allow for more fairness and understanding amongst competitors.
