Two-way time transfer via communication satellites
Article Abstract:
The accurate and highly precise time comparisons over large distances that are required by many applications are not compatible with ground-based radio techniques. Atmospheric wave propagation phenomena and limited bandwidth hamper low frequencies (LF) and very low frequencies (VLF) and do not allow precise time comparisons. Very high frequencies (VHF) provide large bandwidth and stable propagation for line-of-sight connections. Satellite communications with high frequencies would provide the bandwidth and wide coverage required for accurate and precise time comparisons. The advantages of spread spectrum techniques are detailed and a two-way method employing pseudonoise (PN) modems and using communication satellites and earth stations is described.

Partial realization of 2-D discrete linear system and 2-D Pade approximation and reduction of 2-D rational transfer function
Article Abstract:
A method for determining system function and degree of 2-D DLSI systems is proposed, based on an extension of the Berlekamp-Massey algorithm to two dimensions for synthesizing a simplest 2-D linear feedback shift register. Other applications of the method include multidimensional Pade approximation, system degree reduction, and autocorrelation arrays.
