A generalized cost-estimation model for job shops
Article Abstract:
A cost-estimation model is developed for job shops using an activity-based costing (ABC) system to categorize cost rates for their different activities. Activities are categorized into labor-intensive production, machine based production, administrative, and technical services. The cost rates provided by the system are utilized to approximate the cost of a new order. Hiring an engineer or qualified technical professionals is important in conducting cost-estimating functions.

A technical note on using work sampling to estimate the effort on activities under activity-based costing
Article Abstract:
Activity-based costing (ABC) refers to a two-stage, alternative cost system where activities consume resources and products consumer activities. Work sampling, based on random sampling methods, is an effective estimation process for determining effort level spent on activities under ABC. This estimation process minimizes measurement costs and develops greater accuracy for ABC cost information.

An economic design of variable sampling interval X control charts
Article Abstract:
A cost model was formulated to effectively determine the maximum sampling-and-charting parameters of X control charts. The model includes false alarm cost, assignable cause-related cost, out-of-control state production cost, and sampling and testing costs. The study process also involved the implementation of a two-stage optimization approach to effectively assess optimum parameters.
