Designing clean delivery systems for process sampling
Article Abstract:
Clean delivery systems are essential in the delivery of pure process samples. Contaminated samples affect the accuracy of the results of analytical tests. Contamination can be prevented by leakproof fittings and pipings, eliminating crevices, reducing surface and dead volume areas, technologically advanced welding methods, cleaner materials and smoother surface finishes. Suppliers should give installers of their delivery systems thorough instruction to ensure proper installation.

Slashing costs for new process equipment
Article Abstract:
Intercat Inc's Don Clawson, director of manufacturing at the company's petroleum processing plant, was able to reduce costs by refurbishing a 20- year-old calciner instead of purchasing a new one. Before he was able to buy a new unit, he discovered that buying and upgrading an aftermarket unit from Heyl and Patterson Inc would cost less than 50% of the price of a new unit.
