Article Abstract:
Three Pixar Animation Studio computer scientists are awarded an Oscar by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for their work on RenderMan, which is graphics software used by Pixar and many other movie companies. The three are Ed Catmull, Loren Carpenter and Rob Cook. This is the first Oscar of the new millennium and the first ever given to computer science.
