Industry-sponsored study clears bisphenol A
Article Abstract:
Mpi Research's recent study on bisphenol A showed that it caused no adverse health impacts in male mice whose mothers ate low doses of bisphenol A during gestation. Bisphenol A, a suspected endocrine disruptor, is a main monomer employed to produce polycarbonate and epoxy resins, which are utilized in food packaging applications. The Mattawan, MI-based Mpi's recent study, which utilized some 500 male mice, was funded by the European Chemical Industry Council in Brussels, Belgium, and the Society of the Plastics Industry in Washington, DC.

Draining time for unpumped tanks
Article Abstract:
Solutions to the engineering problem of uncontrolled time in the use of gravity to drainn a tank are presented. It was solved approximately for vertical tanks with flat, elliptical and hemispherical heads. The accuracy of previous endeavors is improved and the conical-bottom tank is added. A program to calculate tank-draining times, which accommodates all head configurations provided, and almost any type of discharge piping configuration is illustrated.
