A new range of captive fasteners is launched that are designed specifically for electronic heat sink applications, offering consistent, high load mechanical fastening that maximizes thermal conductivity regardless of chip thermal expansion, shock and vibration. The fastener has a special spring-loaded design that compensates for inconsistent chip and interface material thickness.

Drying machine uses novel air jets

A small, family owned engineering design firm has developed a range of novel container dewatering machines based on its own pneumatic air jets. The machines, which are made from stainless steel, can be easily attached to a conveyor belt and customers have fitted the unit to the line themselves.

Proactive system protects from fire

Cambridge-based firm Wagner UK's has developed a fire protection system, which prevents fires to take place. The possibility of a fire occurring is removed by reducing the oxygen contents of the air within an enclosed room or building and the system is automatically monitored for faults.
