Career perspectives of six women engineers

Article Abstract:

A panel of women engineers concludes that females enter the profession because they enjoy science and problem-solving, but frequently leave because of a lack of opportunities and inflexible work options. Professional opportunities for women have increased dramatically in the 20th century, although they are still not well-represented in the engineering profession. Women account for more than 22 percent of the scientists and engineers in the US work force, but just 9 percent of all engineers and less than 7 percent of electrical, aeronautical and mechanical engineers.

Engineers at war: considering a job in Iraq or Afghanistan? Here's what to expect

Article Abstract:

Engineers should ask their employers about safety training and capabilities prior to signing up for a job in a war zone. Engineers rarely leave their bases and they will require a small convoy of armored vehicles should they require off-campus travel.
