ChE salaries outpace inflation
Article Abstract:
A 1998 survey on 2,871 full-time, salaried chemical engineers by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers' Member Activities Directorate has found that the median salary base of the respondents was $72,000 in 1997, up 5.6% from the median salary of $68,200 in 1995. Respondents reported median raises of 4.5% over the year from 1996 to 1997, exceeding the 2.3% increase in the Consumer Price Index during the same period.

In Memoriam - Rebecca M. Hernandez
Article Abstract:
Rebecca M. Hernandez died on December 28, 2007 after the car that she was riding together with her husband and friends was struck by an alleged drunk driver. Hernandez started her careers in the Technical Services Department of Bristol Myers Squibb in Mayaguez. She was later transferred to the company's research laboratories in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
