Choose the right mathematical software
Article Abstract:
Contemporary general-purpose mathematical software packages allow engineers to solve symbolic and numerical mathematical problems that could not be solved on a personal computer just a few years ago. Five popular packages - Waterloo Maple Inc's Maple, MathSoft Inc's Mathcad, Wolfram Research Inc's Mathematica, The Mathworks Inc's Matlab and Universal Technical Systems Inc's TK Solver - are reviewed. The review evaluates the performance of the packages on four common engineering problems.
