Computational model for a Belgian chemical engineering plant cost index
Article Abstract:
A cost index model was developed for a Belgian chemical process plant and tested against existing cost index models for industry and county to assess the accuracy and applicability of the formed model. While the model has been shown to have a high degree of agreement with other existing models, the question of the cost index's accuracy lends a certain inaccuracy to its conclusions, given the delays in compiling and processing of data and its inherent averaging effect.

Comment on the 'analytic Delphi method.' (comment on H. Azani and R. Khorramshahgol, Engineering Costs and Production Economics, vol 20, p. 23, 1990)
Article Abstract:
The analytic Delphi method (ADM) is a group decision making technique that combines the Delphi method with the analytic hierarchy process (AHP). However, ADM's originators committed a technical error involving the AHP aspect of the method. While most authors use the geometric mean for discussions of the AHP, Azani et al used the arithmetic mean. As a result, the method by which individual judgments are consolidated disregarded the reciprocal nature required by AHP.

Engineering education: the "P" word and continuous quality improvement
Article Abstract:
Improvement in undergraduate education entails consideration of a paradigm that regards a customer as a being with particular needs. Such paradigm also needs to regard quality improvement as responsibility of every member of an entity, and not just as a responsibility of the administration. By allowing students utilize state-of-the-art technology, such as CD-ROM and personal computers, undergraduate education is also enhanced.
