Designing of a production ordering system for automobile repair parts
Article Abstract:
The characteristics of a time-series demand structure of automobile repair parts were analyzed and a production ordering system for those parts supplied to overseas markets is proposed. The repair parts were classified into three categories for the model which is based on the pull-type ordering system. The effects of transportation lead time on the distributions of ordering, withdrawal and inventory quantities were also analyzed and a method for designing an economic buffer stock level at each stock point is proposed.

Article Abstract:
Utilization of a joint buffer stock proved to be useful in lessening distribution system's operating costs. A model, which is used to assess a practical multi-product distribution system, reveals that savings to be derived from the use of joint buffer stock rely substantially upon the customer service level desired. They also rely on the degree of variation with regards to end-of-period net inventory across all products and retailers.
